business habits

As Entrepreneurs, we have systems for everything. We have to in order to keep the engine of our business running like a well oiled machine. However, for many of us out here in the hustle, there is likely one very critical piece of our business that we often neglect: ourselves. So how do we make sure that we make time for ourselves? Below are some tips on creating a self care routine.

1. Get some sleep.

Your body requires rest to be optimal physically and mentally. Make sure you are practicing good sleep habits.

2. Eat

I am so guilty of sitting down to work and then realizing hours later that I forgot to eat anything. Am I the only one? It is so important to make sure that we are fueling our bodies, not just eating, but eating healthy.

3. Take at least one day a week to completely unplug

Want to elevate your mood and improve brain function? Give your screens a break! Research shows that our dependence on technology, and the amount of time we spend staring at a screen negatively affects the way our brains work. This is just one good reason to take regular breaks from our cell phones and lap tops.

4. Connect with family and friends

Everyone needs to experience regular meaningful connection with others. Be intentional about setting time aside to engage with your family and close friends.

5. Do something for yourself

You work hard! If you are a parent, you are already putting in overtime. So, it’s okay to occasionally do something that is just for you, even something small.

6. Engage in your favorite hobbies

Do something just because you enjoy it. Read a book, play a sport, hike, travel or whatever it is that you really love to do. Make sure to take the time to do things that you love.

7. Get regular exercise

If your business requires you to sit at a desk most of the time, it is important to find a way to move at some point during the day. You can get up early and get in a vigorous workout, or you can pause work in the middle of the day and take a walk or a run. Just move!

8. Listen to music

Create a playlist of your favorite songs and listen to them while you work.

9. Celebrate your wins

So often, as entrepreneurs, we get caught up in the hustle that we forget to look back and see all that we have accomplished. I recommend that you pause at the end of each week to celebrate your successes, no matter how small.

10. Delegate

It’s possible that you are looking at some of the things on this list and thinking, “I don’t have time!” Then it’s probably time to start thinking about outsourcing some parts of your business. You are your business, and if you don’t make time to take care of you, your business will suffer. Consider hiring a virtual assistant to create some space for you to nurture yourself.
